Marigolds for Mama Mary

Posted on

How fitting that today, on the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a marigold blossom we have been watching has opened up its bright gold petals, reaching up toward Heaven.

How even more fitting that this one is right in front of our Mary statue in the front flower bed? (never mind the neighbors truck!)

I took Molly out to see the flower.

She was mesmerized with its bright color and stared at it very intently.  I wondered what was going through her tiny head.  What was it about that simply gold flower that had her rapt attention.  I hoped that she would always marvel at Gods creation,  right down to the simplest flower.  And that each time she paused to examine a flower, a bird, a leaf or a cloud,  her thoughts  would always turn to heaven.

I thanked Our Lord for all of the things around us that guide our hearts and minds to His Son.  I especially thanked Him for His Mother,  who”s perfect example and tender motherly love guides all souls to Her Son.

  1. How wonderful! I love marigolds! Even though some don’t like the smell, they are so wonderfully versatile, brilliant and easy to grow. Mine are still growing strong after a rough, hot, dry summer.

  2. Thanks Jenn! I am pretty allergic to marigolds actually, but the bright yellow and golds are my favorite color ~ seems it may be Molly Maes favorite too! Mine didn’t do well all summer, but now they are perking up!
